Also present were brother Watson; Robert Welch unmarried lodger age 27, drapers assistant, and Carharine Carter, unmarried servant age 21. 1855 Ward's Directory, Newcastle, draper's assistant at 27 Nile St 1856 Nov 29 Newcastle Guardian: Marriage at the Friends Meeting House on 27 Nov, Mr William Binns,draper to Miss Elizabeth Sykes 1858 Register of Electors for Bishopwearmouth, house and shop at 75 High St. 1861 Census married head at 1 Bridge St, age 41, confectioner employing one woman and two girls. Also present were Elizabeth Powell, journeyman confectioner, age 21; Eliza Grey, apprentice age 16; Jane Grey, apprentice,age 15; and Elizabeth Coulthard age 13, domestic servant. 1864-5 Register of Electors for Bishopwearmouth, abode and shop at 1 Bridge St. 1865 Nov 10 Newcastle Courant: Child Dropping; Mary Mattimore of Sunderland was observed leaving a water closet at the back of the premises of William Binns, tailor and draper, High Street, apparently suffering from illness. A few minutes later a person heard the low wailing of a child lying at the bottom of the water closet.
