1861 Census wife age 22 1863 Jul 28 Sheffield Independent: A Painful Case; A young married woman, Emma Binns, appeared in the dock with an infant in her arms. She had stolen 3s from the Star Inn, Rawmarsh. She spent 1s at a grocers shop. She said her husband was a labouring man and she had 3 little children. Committed for 1 month 1864 Jan 30 Sheffield Independent: Emma Binns of Rawmarsh charged with stealing 2 tablecloths for a drapers shop. She admitted the offence saying she intended to pay for it. She sold one to her sister. Committed for 2 months 1870 May 24 Sheffield Daily Telegraph: Emma Binns of Rawmarsh charged with stealing a purse containing £ 3s 6d, property of Emma Knapton, beerseller. Committed for trial. The theft was from a drawer in the upstairs of the beer house. 1871 Census in Wakefield Prison, inmate 1874 E.B., married, age 34, wife no trade (boot closing), born Rawmarsh 1874 Jan 17 Sheffield Independent: Emma Binns, wife of William Binns, collier charged with stealing pair of trousers worth 24s, from next door neighbour. Husband tried to make it up. She had entered by lifting up the cellar grate. 1874 Feb 27 Sheffield Daily Telegraph: Emma Binns, 36, married pleaded guilty to stealing a pair of trousers in Rawmarsh.
